About This Mural

In March, I gave myself a birthday gift: a ticket to Spain and a few days with paint on my hands.

It was a last-minute decision, and I have zero regrets.

I flew out to assist muralist Andrea Ehrhardt on a realistic leopard mural at Lydia’s Rural House, just outside Barcelona. The drive from the airport into the countryside was beautiful with open land, olive trees, and rolling hills that reminded me of Texas, but with softer light.

It was my first time back in Spain since studying abroad in Granada, and returning felt like a full-circle moment. Lydia, our host, welcomed us with warmth and generosity. We visited a Cava winery, explored cathedrals, stood at the edge of the Mediterranean, and painted in between it all.

The mural design wasn’t mine, but I still had something to offer. With my spray-paint experience, I helped the other artists incorporate spray into their own mural work. It felt good to contribute and to teach as much as I learned.

I’m especially passionate about supporting other women as they grow their creative businesses, and this small meetup of four women artists was the perfect size for meaningful connection. The camaraderie, shared skills, and encouragement made the whole experience feel like a creative reset.
